A Snake... for a Moment

When Moses was instructed to throw down his staff before Pharaoh, it became a snake for a moment. The magicians also threw down their staves, which also became snakes.



This is a picture of Jesus, One 'thrown down' by God onto the earth to become a snake (sin) - but only for a moment! The snake of Moses quickly consumed the snakes of the magicians. This should remind us that there is no sin that is superior in weight or scope to the sin the Jesus became for us on the cross.

(21) For He has made Him who knew no sin, to be sin for us, that we might become the righteousness of God in Him.

I must point out... small snakes are deadly. If we believe that our sin is unforgivable to the point where we do not seek forgiveness through the sacrifice of Jesus, well, there is no cure for this bite. Your sin is covered... as assuredly as Moses' snake consumed the others. Accept the gift.

It's Time

Most of us have heard of spiritual strongholds. As our pastor explained, a stronghold is a house built with thoughts which becomes a place we dwell in and protect because we deem it safe, whether it is or not.

Strongholds can serve a purpose when we are lost. Often they are built out of a need for self-preservation. For instance, a stronghold of anger may be built when a child is raised in an abusive home - where being berated is the status quo. If not for the stronghold of anger, a different stronghold might be built - one of self pity or even self destruction. Yes, a stronghold can lead to destruction. But then, by the grace of God, we come to know Jesus. We discover that our old house of jealousy, unforgiveness, anger, pride, selfishness, or guilt can no longer contain our new family member. He simply keeps rattling our timbers and destroying our precious artifacts.

For those that know Him, it's time to tear down the strongholds and to dwell in the bigger house - His house.

(5) pulling down imaginations and every high thing that exalts itself against the knowledge of God, and bringing into captivity every thought into the obedience of Christ

All Things New Pt1

God's desire is to make all things new. New wine will not fit in the old wineskin. Just as such, nothing new from God will fit into the old container. When you received His spirit, you were 'made new'. Or perhaps when we were made new, His Spirit then came in.

(17) So that if any one is in Christ, that one is a new creature; old things have passed away; behold, all things have become new.

Have we ever tried to explain things of God to someone who does not believe? They physically cannot contain the revelation. But when presented with the things of God, they are either drawn, or repulsed. Either way, a shaking of their minds and hearts occurs. They fight, they squirm, they get very uncomfortable. These are the 'birth pains' of a new believer. Then, a new creature is born. The earth behaves no differently. That which is truly new from God in the coming age will also require a new heaven and a new earth to contain it. As we approach the dawning of a new age, the earth shakes and travails.

Rev 21:1-5 MKJV
(1) And I saw a new heaven and a new earth. For the first heaven and the first earth had passed away. And the sea no longer is.
(4) And God will wipe away all tears from their eyes. And there will be no more death, nor mourning, nor crying out, nor will there be any more pain; for the first things passed away.
(5) And He sitting on the throne said, Behold, I make all things new. And He said to me, Write, for these words are true and faithful.
