The Divine Mirror

The results of the Old Covenant and the New Covenant appear to mirror each other. Here is a very simplified example:

In the time of Moses, if you had leprosy and you touched someone, that 'someone' became unclean. However, Jesus implemented a mirror image that showed Him touching a leper, and the leper became clean. See the mirror?

Here is a much more complex example:

Lev 14:35-36 MKJV
(35) and if he that owns the house shall come and tell the priest, saying, A plague is seen by me in the house;
(36) then the priest shall command that they empty the house before the priest goes to see the plague, so that all that is in the house may not become unclean. And afterwards the priest shall go in to see the house.
(48) And if the priest shall come in and look, and, behold, the plague has not spread in the house after the house was plastered, then the priest shall pronounce the house clean because the plague is healed.
(49) And he shall take two birds to cleanse the house, and cedar-wood, and scarlet dye, and hyssop.
(50) And he shall kill one of the birds in an earthen vessel over running water.
(51) And he shall take the cedar wood, and the hyssop, and the scarlet dye, and the living bird, and dip them in the blood of the slain bird and in the running water, and sprinkle the house seven times.
(52) And he shall cleanse the house with the blood of the bird, and with the running water, and with the living bird, and with the cedar wood, and with the hyssop, and with the scarlet.
(53) But he shall let the living bird go out of the city into the open field, and make an atonement for the house. And it shall be clean.

The "house" in this case was a real house, or stone dwelling. But it's also the same word for 'temple', which Jesus used interchangeably with our 'physical body'. Basically... this could be a passage about our physical body being sick with a plague. So what just happened?

The body is sick so the priest comes:

1. the house is cured
2. the sacrifice is made, while the plague is carried to the Dead Sea
3. the house is anointed

Jas 5:14-15 MKJV
(14) Is any sick among you? Let him call for the elders of the church, and let them pray over him, anointing him with oil in the name of the Lord.
(15) And the prayer of faith will cure the sick, and the Lord shall raise him up. And if he has committed sins, it will be forgiven him.

The body is sick so priest comes:

1. the house is anointed
2. the sacrifice has already been made (Jesus), who carried our sins as far as the east is from the west (notice Lev 14:49: cedar, scarlet, and hyssop), but is here claimed by the prayer of faith
3. the house is cured

Postponed Covenant

I'm sure most everyone has heard that perhaps the largest terrorist plot since 911 was recently foiled. Life goes on as usual. Most people found that to be an interesting headline, and nothing more.

But all the experts say it's not a matter of if, but when. So what happens when?

Is that the next wave of church/endtime/apocalyptic interest in this nation? It seems that even back in the time of Ezekiel and Jeremiah, people refused to heed warnings but went about their lives as usual. I found something interesting in Ezekiel:

Ezekiel 5:1-2 LITV
(1) And you, son of man, take to yourself a sharp sword, the razor of a barber. Take it to yourself and make it pass over your head and over your beard. And take to yourself scales to weigh, and to divide them out.
(2) You shall burn a third part in the fire, in the midst of the city, when the days of the siege are fulfilled. And you shall take the third part and beat with a sword all around it. And you shall scatter the third part into the wind, and I will draw out a sword after them.

Why Ezekiel's hair? I believe that God was talking about his covenant with Israel, and that He was going to postpone it for a season due to their disobedience. The Nazir covenant was one that meant your hair was never cut - the Nazarite vow. Yet God told Ezekiel to shave his head and do different things with the hair.

It was a temporary judgment, because all hair grows back. That's grace. We learned this lesson from Samson. The unfortunate thing is what Samson and Israel both had to endure because of their disobedience. Are we different in this nation?

More On The Name

Gen 17 - the changing of the names

When God confirms His covenant with us, He often changes our name. Isn't that interesting?

With Abram and Sarai, He added His breath... 'Ahhh'.. like an exhale. It's NOOMA... air... life...(pneuma). So instead of Abram, he became AbraHAm, and instead of Sarai, she became SarAH. You might say that until God truly gets ahold of you, you are lifeless.

So how important is the name change, and does it apply to us?

Jacob became Israel. Simon became Peter. Saul became Paul.


Rev 2:17
(17) The one who has an ear, hear what the Spirit says to the assemblies. To the one overcoming, I will give him to eat from the hidden manna. And I will give to him a white stone, and on the stone a new name having been written, which no one knows except the one receiving it.

So overcomers, too, will receive a new name from God. I think for a minute what it must be like for God to tell me, "Steven, from this point on you will not be called Steven, but will be called..., because I have determined that you shall always be known for..."

Does that work at all in your spirit? Is there any motivation toward holiness there? There is for me.


Even the Lord will take on a new name:
Rev 3:12
(12) The one overcoming, I will make him a pillar in the temple of My God, and he shall not go out any more. And I will write the name of My God on him, and the name of the city of My God, the new Jerusalem which comes down out of Heaven from My God, and My new name.

So we see, even having His name written upon us will be an honor of the ages. It is unfathomable. There is much in a name!
